Excursions to Marrakech

Guided Tour of the Medina: 1 day. Founded in 1062, Marrakech, the second oldest imperial city of Morocco, remains nowadays the most extraordinary capital of the South and is witness of the cultural and historical wealth throughout the country as well. In “The Pearl of the South” you will discover a great variety of historical monuments such as, for instance, the Koutoubia, the Bahia and Badia Palaces, the Saadian Tombs and the Dar si Saïd Museum. Through the narrow streets of the old medina of Marrakech, you will discover craftsmen at work in the old-fashioned way and also a display of the multi-colored and multifarious small shops. The end of the tour will take place in the Djemaa El Fna square which is the most popular and most famous place of Marrakech and is known for its incessant rhythms. As the night falls, this place becomes densely crowded and various activities, such as, fire breathing, tooth pullers, fortune-tellers, monkey trainers, story-tellers, acrobats, snake charmers, spice and incense traders among others can be admired.
Ourika Valley: ½ day.
Asni Ouirgane-Imlil: ½ day. Located at the foot of de the mountain of Toubkal, the highest mountain peak of Morocco and North Africa (more than 4500 metres), the small village of Tahanaout, gathers the farmers of the area twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) for the big souk. After the visit to the Ghaghia Wadi Gorges, arrival at Asni; the land of the amethyst and the Green Valley, which has come to be known as the “Happy Valley”.
Essaouira: 1 day. Essaouira, or the Old Mogador, is a city that reminds us of the times when Spain, Portugal and England fought to maintain control over its coasts. It is a typical Portuguese harbour with lovely samples of the Moorish and Portuguese art. Essaouira is known for its artists who work the thuja, for its silver market, the harbour and its isles among other things.
“The place where you hear no noise”. Passing through the Tiz ´n Tichka (2260 metres), one of the culminating peaks of Northern Africa, you’ll discover a notable region characterized by the magnificence and beauty of its different landscapes. Once returned to Ouarzazate, you can visit the Kasbahs of Taourirt and Tifoultoute which are old residences of Glaoui, the former Pasha of Marrakech.
Zagora: 2 days. Crossing the Tiz ´n Tichka (2260 metres), you`ll be visiting Benhaddou’s Kasbah. Lunch will be in Ouarzazate and afterwards you will move on to Zagora through the Drâa Valley. The road, lined with Kasbahs, crosses a desert region. Once arrived at Zagora, the desert’s door, you can visit, dine and lodge in Haimas (Moroccan tents) after the dromedary trip. The second day, you’ll visit a Berber village and return to Marrakech.
Ouzoud Falls: 1 day. You will leave early heading towards the Ouzoud Falls, located 160 km from Marrakech. You’ll enjoy a nice day underneath the beautiful cascades, where differences in water levels of up to 60 metres can be found.
Moroccan Dinner Morocco is one of the most enchanting places where you can try Moroccan dishes while watching simultaneously really enjoyable shows, particularly those featuring oriental belly dancers and the local folklore. Sense the atmosphere of the One Thousand and One Nights in a luxurious Moroccan hotel situated in the Old Medina.
Fantasy Dinner and Show Take pleasure in the fantasy show that represents a warlike ceremony and consists in opposing several horsemen who represent the best known horse riders. Each group shudders under the light; the riders point their long rifles to the sky while shouting out in unison and leaving behind them a cloud of dust before obtaining the “Last Combat”. During dinner, made of mainly Harira (Moroccan soup), Méchoui (lamb) and Couscous (Moroccan dish), you will have the opportunity to appreciate the Berber Folklore, jugglers, the flying carpet, the belly dancer and ultimately, the fantasy show.
